The new framework consolidates multiple labour laws relating to workplace safety, health, and working conditions under a unified legislation and introduces significant compliance reforms for employers and contractors. Key provisions include mandatory appointment letters for employees, online registration through the Shram Suvidha Portal, compulsory annual medical tests for employees above 40 years in specified sectors, digital maintenance of inter-state migrant worker records, mandatory online reporting of workplace incidents, and formation of Safety Committees with women representation in establishments employing 500 or more workers. The rules also strengthen accountability for principal employers and contractors while promoting digital compliance and improved workplace safety standards across industries.
